Mohs Surgery

Mohs micrographic surgery is a special technique for the removal of skin cancers and other growths that is recognized by many as the most effective treatment option for basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas. After removing the cancerous tumor, we carefully examine the surrounding skin under a microscope to be sure all the malignant cells have been removed. If necessary, we then take off more skin, and check again. Our goal is to be sure that the dangerous cancer cells are gone, while sparing as much of the healthy skin as possible. Mohs surgery is most often used for large and aggressive skin cancers.
