Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) may occur on the lips or mouth as well as on the skin. In most cases, the surface area feels scaly and may bleed occasionally. It is usually found on areas of the body that have been over-exposed to the sun, such as the scalp, lips or back of the hand. Unlike BCC, squamous cell carcinomas have a high risk of metastasis and can be fatal. Treatment options include surgery and topical medications.
