Hair Loss – You aren’t alone!
If you suffer from hair loss, you are not alone. 1 in 5 Americans experience hair loss in their lifetime for a variety of reasons, but despite the prevalence, the matter tends to be overlooked. According to Spencer Kobren, the founder of the American Hair Loss Association, “Society and medicine haven’t taken hair loss seriously because it’s not life-threatening, but it’s a disease of the spirit that eats away at a person’s self-esteem, and the social ramifications, especially for women, are profound.”[1] Dermatology Consultants is dedicated to helping our patients feel their most confident, creating a space where health meets beauty.
The Dermatology Consultants Approach
Unlocking one’s potential requires treating the whole person comprehensively, both medically and aesthetically. Dermatology Consultants takes a holistic approach when it comes to devising an individualized treatment plan tailored to meet your needs. All patients receive a comprehensive medical evaluation by a board-certified dermatologist, which includes an extensive bloodwork panel, medical history examination, and a scalp punch biopsy to rule out pre-existing medical conditions such as hormone imbalances and autoimmune diseases. Once the root cause of hair loss is determined, our team of experts will work with you to determine a personalized regimen.
While there are numerous products, services, and claims out there, toting miraculous results, with over 80 years of experience, Dermatology Consultants has found the best, most cutting-edge solutions for our clients that are truly effective. We recognize the solution to this complex issue has many avenues, however, for our patients, we have found the most successful treatment option continues to be Platelet-Rich-Plasma Injections (PRP).
What are Platelet-Rich-Plasma Injections?
Platelet-Rich-Plasma treatment uses blood drawn from the patient, centrifuged to separate plasma and stem cells. Plasma contains a range of growth factors, that when injected into damaged or diseased tissue, trigger healing and regeneration. Used to treat a range of ailments from age spots and wrinkles to scarring and other forms of hyperpigmentation, PRP can also be used for hair growth restoration. More specifically, PRP helps your body reactivate its inactive hair follicles and grow brand-new hair with a thicker diameter. Using these concentrated platelets increases growth factors up to eight times. The ideal candidate for PRP treatments for hair loss are patients with areas of “weak quality” hair growth on the scalp with still functioning hair follicles. Results may vary but can typically be measured in about three months. It takes six to twelve months to visually see the difference of fuller, thicker hair.
For patients that may need more extensive treatment, the use of exosomes may be explored. Exosomes are micro-vessicles about 1/1000th size of a cell and offer a unique benefit by bringing a higher concentration of growth factors to stimulate the bodys own regenerative potential. Exosomes have been shown to regenerate and thicken hair.
Non-Invasive In-Office & At-Home Treatments
To create the most comprehensive and effective care plans for our patients, we recommend a combination of in-office and at-home treatments. In conjunction with PRP, Dermatology Consultants offer a variety of oral and topical supplements to stimulate hair growth, including supplemental vitamins Viviscal and Nutrfol, retinoid and hydrocortisone topical treatments, Lambdafil prescription shampoo, and our latest at-home Laser Hair Growth solution the Theradome helmet.
